1. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Because there is always a growing competition in higher education and professional environments, it is important for our children to receive an education that will enhance their critical thinkingskills. Critical thinking skills are essential for learning, analyzing, problem solving, and decision making. Ultimately, relying on a system that allows students to enhance this skill will lead to better academic and job performance.

2. VALUES

Although values seem intangible at times, shools should promote values and provide a moral education for their students. Schools have a main function of educating students, but teaching values from an early age will also make them better contributors to society. It will also lead them to take better decisions and develop their own set of values, including objetives, opinions, and interests. Teaching values in a classroom setting witll give students academic integrity, and educators should advocate the teaching of said values as it will also aid students in other aspects of their lives.

3. INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY

Innovation should always be considered in education. The world moves at a fast pace, and with the emergence of new technologies, schools are able to approach education differently and can continue to push boundaries in the classroom. Innovation and technology redefines the entire structure of teaching practices. If we eally want our chldren to be truly prepared for success, we need to assure that they’re receiving not only an innovative education, but one that develops creative thinking through educational and technolgical tools.

4. HUMAN SENSIBILITY

Although we’ve talked about values previously, we believe that the human sensibility is yet another element that has been neglected for years by different educational models. We must recognize that our students have dreams, aspirations and unique abilities that set them apart of the rest, and it is important that individuality is encourage not as a selfish act, but as an act of acceptance of what makes us unique and valuable members of the society.

5. SPORTS

Including sports in a school curriculum (and not just physical education classes) can lead to improved motor skills and a healthier lifestyle. Fitness is part of growing up. Instilling sports as an integral part f curriculum will pave way for a student to learn about responsability, time management, accountability, and leadership. Furthermore, it helps create a sense of community and belonging, as well as increased confidence in children.

Elements that form a complete education are subject to every parent and school, and will vary greatly according to a school’s educational model. The important thing to note is that our children should receive a balanced education that prepares them in the most complete way possible for their future academic and prefessional sucesses.
